Best of 2010: #3 Heavy Rain

The Easy Mode is counting down its top games of 2010 throughout the week! Stay tuned for more reveals, more twists and a satisfying conclusion. On the way, we reveal what our editors picked and their personal take on the year.

Five years from now, we won't remember those few awkward moments when Heavy Rain doesn't totally click or when the controls make you do something that is mildly embarrassing. In the end, all we'll remember is how this game made us feel. For a game that's generally devoid of traditional gunplay or high-profile action, it offered some of the most tense and focused experiences of the past few years, with many scenes leaving us drained and breathless. Laugh all we want at the bad localization and glaring plot holes, this game did something that we've been wanting for years: to experience something that's akin to an interactive film. Its replayability may be somewhat low, but that doesn't take away from how powerful and moving this game can be. Yes, even considering the characters' dead-eye stares and floppy fingers.
