This is a good wine: Red Diamond Merlot

I wasn't a fan of red wine until recently, but that changed when I visited Italy a couple of months ago. Also, two fun facts:

1. I hate it when beer gets warm, and since red wine is already served warm, it never goes bad while you drink it.

2. As far as I can tell, there's no such thing as "wine shits".

Since getting back from Europe, my wife and I have been experimenting with various red wines. Our only rule is that we're trying to buy bottles that are under $10. We tried out all of the Yellowtail brand wines (too sour), and we read about this brand called Red Diamond, based out of Washington state. I spent the first 20 years of my life in Washington, so we decided to try it out.

It has a sweet initial taste and it goes down really smoothly. That's about the extent of my wine tasting skills. We're a quarter of the way through the bottle. More to come. Maybe.

I don't know if you guys have Trader Joe's wherever in the world you are now... but if you're looking for quality, inexpensive wines, it's a good place to start. I'm particularly partial to the Honey Moon Viognier, which I think costs something around $5. It's delicious, and best served slightly chilled ... but not so chilled that you would notice it getting warm. And it probably won't give you the shits. Though I'm not going to make any promises.

we do have Trader Joe's here, but in Maryland they only sell alcohol in liquor stores, which are usually just full of cheap beer. my wife drove down to a Trader Joe's in Virginia to get the wine from this post. we'll check that other one out.

That's craziness! Y'all might as well have moved to Canada! But I'll be sure to try this brand... I've been moving away from reds lately, but if you say it's easy to drink, i'm sold.
