Mark and I went to the Anaheim Comic Con last weekend. It was my first time going to any type mass nerd gathering and I absolutley loved it. Yes, Mark and I made fun of all the cosplayers and hackneyed "celebrities" trying to sell their autographs, but we were also constantly surpised by the parade of fandom going by at all times. Pimp Bobba Fetts, the BTTF DeLorean, droid convoys and more Ghostbusters than I can remember. Mark's new camera took some incredible shots while Mark was holding it up, but we really didn't get enough footage. Sorry guys. Maybe at San Diego we'll do it right.

I've known Mark for over 10 years but I've never seen him as excited to meet someone as he was with this guy. His name is Graham MacTavish and his sign said "from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2", so logically we thought he did the voice for Soap MacTavish. Turned out he's not. Misleading much?

I won't go into too much detail about this week's arcade title, as I've written about this game before. As such, this post is just a reminder of the salient details:
The game will release on XBLA and PSN on April 21st and 22nd respectively, and will retail for the price of 800MSP ($10 US). Check out the video below for a better look at the game in action:
Apparently puzzle Chronicles might also be heading to XBLA (and probably PSN) this week too. The video for it can be found below:
Hmmmmm. It definitely looks... interesting. no comments

Confirmed on majornelson.com, this week's deal of the week on Xbox Live is "The Zombie Island Of Dr. Ned", the first DLC pack released for Borderlands. This DLC pack will be available as of the 19th of April, and will be on sale for the reduced price of 400MSP - a 50% reduction on the standard retail price.
If you've been meaning to pick this up, but have never gotten around to it, then now seems like the perfect time. I myself plan on picking this up, so if you want to play co-op, give me a shout - my gamertag is blacktail9mm.
In the meantime, enjoy this video put together by the nice people at Gearbox Software. Oh, and remember: aim for the head!

The release of Capcom's “Lost In Nightmares” DLC for Resident Evil 5 sees players controlling Chris Redfield or Jill Valentine as they return to the Spencer mansion under the employ of the BSAA, in order to track down Umbrella Corporation founder, Ozwell E. Spencer.
If you played Resident Evil 5, you may remember this chapter being alluded to in one of the game's cutscenes, and it explains how Chris and Jill became separated prior to the beginning of Resident Evil 5. As such, “Lost In Nightmares” functions as somewhat of a prologue to the main game, (as well as a throwback to the earlier games in the series), and is split up into four distinct sections – the first of which is set in the Spencer mansion as we know it.

I just ran across this site, and despite their horrible names, I find these controller add-ons a little interesting. Straight from their website:
FPSFreek was developed to improve your accuracy in first person shooter environments, helping you react and hit your targets faster. FPS Freek extends the length of your analog stick, increasing your range of motion, giving you 40% more linear distance from full stop to stop. This gives you more leverage and increased control without disturbing your natural gaming feel. FPS Freek will help you to aim and lock in on your target faster, while putting less strain on your finger.
SpeedFreek was developed to give you more control in racing games, enabling you to improve racing times when running against the clock. The unique curve of SpeedFreek enables you to hug the turns in racing games, without your fingers slipping off the controller or creating unnecessary friction on your fingers. SpeedFreek keeps your thumb on the existing control surface, with no disruption between the natural geometry that you have learned to use. SpeedFreek’s supporting side walls enable sharper movements while adding to your control and precision in racing games.
What do you think? They're $10 each. Somehow, I don't think they'll make me that much of a better gamer. no comments

In an uncool turn of events, Joystiq unleashed the news that the upcoming rhythm game Green Day: Rock Band will not be receiving any DLC. And while it's pretty awesome that you can play the entirety of Dookie in the game (one of the albums I thought should be an essential 90s album on Rock Band), that also means anyone who wanted to hear some older stuff, like 1,039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours (1990) or Kerplunk (1992) is going to miss out.
Full, supremely final tracklist after the break.

Just a quick reminder that this week's arcade title is Final Fight Double Impact, and will be landing on XBLA and PSN on April 14th and 15th respectively. If you want more information, click here to view last week's post.
Want the concise version? Find a bunch of dudes who look like Andre the Giant, then suplex them! In the face! Repeatedly! Until they can't get up any more. Oh, and it comes with Magic Sword too. no comments

I took my sweet time in buying a PS3 - I bought it about 18 months ago - and PS2 backwards compatibility was already a (shameful) thing of the past on PS3 models by then. I wasn't entirely concerned; in fact, the only PS2 game I was jonesing for was God of War II, which I never got around to playing. Lo and behold Sony did something smart, and they released both Gods of War I and II on one disc, upgraded the graphics to 720p, and sold it for the budget price of $40. It's the perfect catch-up game for people like me that neglected their PS2s, or anyone that wants to be well versed in the God of War story before jumping into God of War III.

As there weren't any arcade titles to download this week (although there was a highly sought after demo), here are specifics on next week's downloadable titles - namely Final Fight Double Impact, which lands on XBLA and PSN on April 14th and 15th respectively.
However, don't let the name and the 800MSP/$10(US) price-point fool you, because there are actually two games in this package: the aforementioned Final Fight, and Magic Sword. Both games have been given an HD filter, feature achievements/trophies, online play, and re-mixed soundtracks.
Check out videos for both games (courtesy of PSNstores.com) below:
