Following the release of the long-awaited Darwinia+ on XBLA last week, Xbox owners will be treated to The Misadventures Of P.B. Winterbottom this Week. For those who aren't aware of the game, you play a pie-obsessed Victorian-era gent called P.B. Winterbottom, on a quest through space and time to find the ever-illusive Chronoberry pie. If that sounds mad, it's because it is; not content with just having you hunt down rare pies, the games art style is a beautiful, quirky blend of Victorian-era, and silent movie stylings, and the game looks to have an air of Braid's puzzle-solving sensibilities about it - which is no bad thing.
The game is set to release on XBLA this Wednesday, for the reasonable price of 800MSP. However, there's still no word as to whether the game will be arriving on PSN, but hopefully Playstation owners won't be denied the chance to stumble through time and space, in a gigantic stovepipe hat, seeking out pie.

Microsoft's X10 event was held in San Francisco earlier today. As predicted, there were no new announcements made at the show, but Microsoft did release a lot of information about games that we are already aware of. Whilst not an exhaustive list, read on for a brief list of some of the more important pieces of information to come from the show:

It was recently revealed that stars (or should that be S.T.A.R.S?) of the original Resident Evil, Barry Burton and Rebecca Chambers, will be making a guest appearance in Capcom's upcoming re-issue/expansion pack, Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition.
We here at theeasymode.com caught up with the series' producer, Jun Takeuchi, and he gave us this exclusive comment*:
“After Shinji Mikami left Capcom, we decided that it would be far easier to dilute the Resident Evil brand with re-cycled crap, rather than innovating, and taking a chance doing something fresh or original. Adding Barry and Rebecca furthers this goal!” he enthused, before adding: “Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to get back to the business of ruining Lost Planet 2”
*This is all lies. |

Flying somewhat under the radar, Microsoft's X'10 expo is set to take place this Thursday, 11th of February. This is the first “proper” X event Microsoft have thrown since X'06 – there have been X events since 2006, but these have usually been scaled down events held in Canada.
As Microsoft have a number of high-profile exclusives lined up for this year, as well as the launch of Project Natal, it seems like this could be quite an interesting show. However, the real question is whether or not Microsoft will make any big reveals, or whether this will just be a chance to promote some of the games we already know about. Given that there's been very little fanfare about this years event, it seems likely that it'll be the latter, though it is possible that Microsoft are just trying to keep a lid on this bad-boy before the mass hysteria gets completely out of control:

Everybody knows that half the reason to watch the Superbowl is for the commercials, even though they've generally sucked in recent years. But because ad time during the game is so expensive, it's usually only heavy hitters like Budweiser, Coke/Pepsi, Doritos, Fed-Ex, GoDaddy.com, and a few other are prepared to shell out that kind if skrill, today's game will feature something for us gamers to watch, and then shrug off and forget - a Dante's Inferno ad.
Due to the family friendly nature of the game, CBS wants to keep things clean (they caused a contrevery by not allowing ">this awesome commercial to air this year). So in order to air the spot, they forced EA to change the tagline from "Go To Hell," to "Hell Awaits." But for the price of over $2.5 million to show this 30 second commercial, I'll tell you what awaits - nothing, really. The game is kind of lame. |

My former best friend in the whole wide world, Major Nelson, just announced that they're discontinuing OG Xbox Live support on April 15th. I'm not terribly conerned about this, considering the fact that I haven't played any old Xbox games online since, well, Halo 3 came out, but I'm sure there are still some people out there that would like to continue to play Halo 2, Counter-strike, and Star Wars: Battlefront II a little more.
What's interesting is Microsoft's reasoning:
"While I can’t comment on the specifics, this change will allow us to continue evolving the LIVE service with new features and experiences that fully harness the power of Xbox 360 and the Xbox LIVE community."
What exactly does that mean? That the old Xbox was holding us back? Unlikely. |

One of my best friends in the whole world, Major Nelson, let me in on a little secret: the Aliens vs. Predator multiplayer demo is now available for download on XBLA. Since I'm both in Europe and lacking an Xbox 360 at the moment, howzabout you download it and tell me how it is? Hell, you can even submit your own Demotopia! about it if you want. |

Guys, did you hear the awesome news?! Finally, FINALLY the Postal series is coming to consoles!
Postal III is being made by Running With Scissors studios, and is scheduled to come out "sometime in 2010." Not only will it be the first one to appear on the Xbox 360 and PS3, it will be a 3rd person shooter (the first two were isometric and 1st person, respectively), and will run on the Source Engine! So basically forget about Episode 3, Postal III is the next Half-Life. |

It's still a strange concept to me that 7-11 even sells video games, but like my Grandma used to say, "Muthafuckas gots to get paid." But seeing this poster in the window of my favorite convenience store surprised me seeing as how they are bringing their game business to two whole new Gamestop-esque levels; offering pre-orders and exclusive content.
I'm not sure if I like where 7-11 is taking things. I don't want to be hassled about pre-ordering the next big game by some clerk every time I step in to grab a coffee, but I do think it would be fun to line up outside of one for a midnight release. |
